Lara Alameh
Lara is a native Angeleno specializing in public affairs and political strategy with more than two decades of experience spanning international affairs, government relations, political campaigns, and nonprofit advocacy. Her work bridges policy, diplomacy, and civic engagement, with a focus on advancing pragmatic solutions across sectors and political divides.
She began her career in Washington, D.C. as a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. House Committee on International Relations under Chairman Henry J. Hyde, where she oversaw Middle East policy, Afghanistan reconstruction, and environmental initiatives. During three Congresses, she organized numerous full committee hearings, participated in congressional delegations abroad—including training members of the Afghan National Assembly on legislative oversight—and served as lead House staffer for the Senator Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act of 2005 (P.L. 109-121), a landmark bipartisan effort to expand access to safe water and sanitation globally.
Her campaign experience spans both presidential and municipal campaigns. She served as
Eastern Region Surrogate Director for Mike Bloomberg’s 2020 presidential campaign, managing high-profile surrogate placements across the eastern United States and coordinating with state teams on key local issues for voter mobilization. More recently, she was Field Director for the Sam Yebri Campaign for Los Angeles City Council, where she engaged the Persian diaspora and oversaw all field operations.
In the international policy arena, Lara has advised on governance reform and anti-corruption initiatives related to Lebanon’s development. She founded the Lebanon Ideas Forum in partnership with the Wilson Center and launched the Safadi-Stanford Initiative for Policy Innovation. Her transatlantic work includes serving as a Senior Fellow at the Fundação Luso- Americana in Lisbon, where she helped establish the Luso-American Legislators’ Dialogue.
Lara has also consulted on peacebuilding initiatives across the Middle East with The Elders, a global leadership organization founded by Nelson Mandela.
