The FAA recently unveiled the outcomes of its Environmental Assessment (EA) regarding the potential adoption of JAYTE/TEAGN waypoints and alterations to OROSZ 2/SLAPP 2 flight paths. The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council (SONC) Airport Committee has reviewed the Draft Environmental Assessment for Proposed Settlement Agreement Departure Procedure Amendments for Hollywood Burbank Airport and has the following comments, attached separately to this submission.
SONC opposes Alternative A and requests City Council to instruct the City Attorney to challenge this action if adopted at BUR.
After our evaluation and review, the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council (SONC) opposes the proposed Update to the CEQA Thresholds and Methodology to allow an increase in construction noise level and construction vibrations because the new thresholds are intended to be better suited to the City’s urban nature. The impacts of these reductions of CEQA protections are unknown and the reasons behind the proposed changes are unclear.
The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council (SONC) supports CF 24-0036 pertaining to the installation of solar-powered lights or conversion to solar when the Bureau of Street Lighting is responding to lighting outages attributed to copper wire and power theft incidents, or other maintenance issues. SONC also supports the Bureau’s solar lights pilot program as part of a potential move in the city toward solar street lighting, where available.
