The Government Affairs Committee studies, researches, and reports on matters of citywide concern.  It provides advice to the SONC Board and may also propose motions to be voted on by the Board as well as community impact statements for consideration by the Board.
 

Matters within the jurisdiction of the committee include but are not be limited to: laws, statutes, ordinances, bills, plans, programs, and proposals by the governing bodies of the City of L.A including any departments or agencies thereof and that do not clearly fall under the jurisdiction of any of the other committees.  Members of the committee attend governmental hearings and meetings and with approval of the Board may provide public comment reflecting the Board’s position on relevant issues. The committee may also network with other neighborhood councils throughout the city in furtherance of the mission of the committee.
 

Members of the public are encouraged to attend committee meeting to voice their opinion on matters before the committee or to suggest matters that the committee may address.
